I never met her, but here I am crying like a baby.
    Oh God.

Is there someone local who can coordinate flowers for whatever services are being held? Please count me in on that, I will send whatever’s needed. The CherryBombs need to stick together.

  • 6. Theresa  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:04 pm

    oh no, no, no. :(

  • 7. Christina  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:08 pm

me–I’m doing the same thing-crying like a baby.

I’m in for flowers too. just let me know where, when and how.

  • 8. McB  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:12 pm

    Well.

Sorry to just dump it like that. I was just taking a quick peek before I left work for the day and saw it. And really I wouldn’t have known what to say anyhow. Still don’t.

Yeah, we’ll want to do something. I figure we’ll hash it out and figure out what to do once there are details.

    Hugs to all.

  • 9. K.L.  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:14 pm

I’m in for flowers too. I wonder if her son will post memorial details on her blog? Is there anyone local to her who can go? This hurts.

  • 10. BCB  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:28 pm

I’ll get the details and let everyone know. Yes, I’m local — 15 minutes away. So is JenB.

I’m sorry, I have no words for this right now. Margaret was a good friend.

  • 11. K.L.  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:37 pm

    Thanks BCB.

  • 12. Lou  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:50 pm

Flowers - me too. Let us know. Thanks BCB.

  • 13. cary  |  November 1st, 2007 at 6:52 pm

BCB - If I remember, there are sons. Could we arrange maybe some food delivery - like a basket of cheese, sausage, etc. to help them through the first few weeks?

  • 14. GatorPerson  |  November 1st, 2007 at 7:01 pm

BCB and JenB, email me if you could use my help and/or presence. I have nothing scheduled for the next 7 days that can’t be postponed.

I’m glad we had a rip snorter of a laughing good time at lunch with Margaret, BCB, JenB, McB, and RSS during the summer.

Other than that, I have nothing good to say.

  • 15. dee  |  November 1st, 2007 at 7:06 pm

    Very sad news.
It just seems like there has been way too much loss this year, doesn’t it.
Though I never met her vis-a-vis, I am joining so many of the rest of you in a round of tears right now. This hits hard.
Prayers to her family, and very extra special (((Hugs))) to BCB, jenb, and GP, who were closer to her than many of us, thanks to the blessing of geography.

BCB, please do let us know about arrangements. And take care of yourself too. I know this isn’t an easy time for you.

  • 16. Lori  |  November 1st, 2007 at 7:28 pm

In the past, when I’ve had to go through a time of great emotion and serious loss, I’ve stood quietly with others who feel pain and cried with them. I never had words to share as I cried, but that didn’t bother me because words were never neccessary. I just needed to stand with the people I love and cry.

Now, I lay here and cry quietly. I cry for the woman whose strength, beauty, and humor shone so brightly from her words that I always yearned to hear more…and more.

I still don’t have words, but I will lay here and cry with you.

  • 17. LtL  |  November 1st, 2007 at 7:33 pm

Yes to flowers & food. My first thought was: I’m too far away to take a casserole to the family. And hugs to the CBs, too.

  • 18. McB  |  November 1st, 2007 at 7:34 pm

BCB- no apologies are necessary. Take care of yourself.

  • 19. CMS  |  November 1st, 2007 at 7:43 pm

This is not right. Not right at all. There’s a large hole here where Margaret should be.
Count me in for flowers, food whatever. I like the idea of feeding the boys but right now I’m just going to hug the dog and cry. She will be so missed.
(((jenb, BCB and GP))) I can only imagine how hard this has hit you all

  • 20. Mary  |  November 1st, 2007 at 8:13 pm

No words, just tears and hugs.
    She was a fighter.

Actually, I got to meet Margaret only one time, at the Great All Afternoon Lunch. It’s JenB and BCB that have been friends all along and before the GAAL.

Margaret had arrived at the GAAL a little before I did. She introduced herself to me after I asked the person in charge if BCB had arrived, since I didn’t know what any CB looked like. Margaret, who’s supposed to be sick, is in a bright red sweater, smiling, beautiful (who’s supposed to be beautiful when they’re sick?), poised (who’s supposed to be poised when they’re sick?), and all around looking like someone I want to get to know better.

As the afternoon went on, Margaret smiled a lot, but didn’t talk much. I asked why, wondering if we were too over the top for this genteel southern lady. She said she had trouble talking and breathing and so chose breathing and listening. She left before the rest of us, ready to go home and take a nap. I think she enjoyed us. I know I enjoyed her.

I’m glad JenB brought the white cap to Dayton. We all autographed it with the Crayola pens. (Remember the burnt sienna reference by CMS?). Some wrote messages. All for Margaret to have, since she couldn’t be with us in Dayton.

Margaret and I did email a few times to discuss the Gift Which Shall Not Be Named Yet. She had hoped to find something at a flea market, but didn’t have the energy to traipse about and felt guilty for that. I assured her we had enough stuff and that she shouldn’t go to bug-infested flea markets anyway.

    Margaret, a true class act.

As Mary said, no words, just tears.
Just wanted to say how very much each one of you meant to Margaret.
She told me that just reading the comments each day brought such joy and laughter into her life when she needed it most.

  • 23. WapakGram  |  November 1st, 2007 at 8:53 pm

There are just no words. Just tears and a Thank you Lord for such an amazing woman.

  • 24. Penny-scope dope cherrybomb  |  November 1st, 2007 at 9:21 pm

Don’t know what to say. Tears for a very brave lady. I’m sorry we never got the chance to meet.

Bcb, Jen B take care of yourselves this must be even harder for you.

    Right now I wish I could hug all of you. ;-( {{{{{CBs}}}}}

I too don’t know what to say. I just saw the title and somehow I knew. It took me forever to go and read what her son wrote. sigh.
I am also in on flowers/food.

  • 29. btuda  |  November 2nd, 2007 at 7:25 am

Aw, hell. The internet nazis here at work won’t let me access anything with the word “blog” in it, but I get the gist of it.

I will miss you very much, Margaret. When cancer reared it’s head on three of my friends and family in the past year, you had wonderful words of wisdom on what I could do for them. Your blog was always an inspiration to me. When I was down, you cheered me up and I can only hope I did the same for you from time to time.

Just promise me that you’re up there smiling down on us, margarita in hand, and a shovel ready and waiting.

({(hugs)}) folks. Please count me in on whatever plans are decided.

  • 30. Diane  |  November 2nd, 2007 at 8:14 am

It’s lovely to read people’s thoughts on this sad event - to see the warmth and happy memories. I’m all misty and choked up over the loss of such an inspiring voice.

Blessings and peace to all of you.

  • 31. McB  |  November 2nd, 2007 at 8:18 am

Btuda - I like that image very much.

As we try to organize something there may be a point where we want to exchange information in a less public forum than here at the Bar&Grill. To that end we’ll do some kind of mass e-mail. Most of you should already have received something like that from Zaza. If not, please email me (not her) at: cb UNDERLINE mcb AT yahoo DOT com. We’ll try to make sure anyone interested is kept in the loop.

  • 32. orangehands  |  November 2nd, 2007 at 2:40 pm

did someone let the CBs who don’t visit very often know? g-g and JJ and any others? i’ll email zaza.

plus, the cabana boy. margaret deserved lots of cabana boys. and a stack of books next to her. flowers. chocolate.

everytime someone knocks on my door it gets worse, because i have to tell them why i’m crying, and that just makes it more and more real that i will never see margaret’s words again and never have a chance to hear them in person.

OH - Zaza knows. read your e-mails, dear.

  • 35. orangehands  |  November 2nd, 2007 at 8:16 pm
